Our Enterprise summer placements provide real hands-on experience through a 12-week placement in our Data and Analytics team. SSE is transforming the way it delivers value from data in order to drive net-zero. You will work to support the building of innovative data and analytics proof of concepts for complex industrial problems across the Distributed Energy and Solar and Battery business units. You will be working in a small agile team of data scientists/engineers/insights developers that apply state-of-the-art techniques from data science, machine learning & artificial intelligence as well as build advanced data visualisations and data products. We utilise a variety of data sources ranging from IOT sensor data, geospatial, weather, fault & maintenance, to telematics, imagery, text and energy meter data. Throughout the placement, you will have the support of a business mentor and buddy who will provide guidance to enable you to reach your full potential.
Our summer placement students work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. There will also be networking and presentation opportunities, specialist sessions and support from our graduates.
You’ll have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us, as often candidates who join us on summer placements consider joining our Graduate Programmes after graduation.
