The Opportunity

Join our 2026 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Birmingham office, where you'll be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll be part of a close-knit team of 15 civil and structural engineers, working alongside colleagues with a diverse range of skills and experience who will support your development and career growth.

We work closely with our MEP, geotechnical and architectural colleagues on building projects across the South West and nationally, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of disciplines and develop a holistic understanding of project delivery.

Our team works across a wide range of building sectors, with particular expertise in education, defence, residential, healthcare and heritage projects.

Our civil engineers design in accordance with current industry standards and best practice, including the latest Building Regulations, local highway authority guidance, drainage authority requirements, national surface water drainage standards, Lead Local Flood Authority guidance and the SuDS Manual.

About The Role

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will support the delivery of civil engineering designs for building infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the design of drainage systems, highways, car parking layouts, earthworks, site levels and vehicle tracking assessments. You will also contribute to the production of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and design reports, while gaining valuable experience through site inspections, client interactions and project meetings.

You'll be working on the following:

  • Drainage calculations, to design sustainable drainage networks for the built environment.
  • Highway calculations, to design the roads which serve our buildings and minimise their impact on the environment.
  • Drawing production, to communicate our design ideas to the design team, client and contractor.
  • 3D drainage and highway models, to establish the design and coordinate with other designers.
  • Design reports, to explain our designs to a wide audience of designers, contractors, authorities and clients.
  • 3D earthworks models, to calculate cut and fill volumes, balance where possible and minimise excavations and the production of waste.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.
