The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in our Reading office, where you'll be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative local team of around 20 engineers in Reading and 15–20 in London, while benefiting from the support and expertise of a national network of hundreds of building services professionals. Working closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Sustainability Engineers, you’ll help develop innovative building designs and collaborate with Structural Engineers, Architects and other specialist disciplines to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions across a range of exciting projects.

Our team delivers projects across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial, industrial, residential and mission-critical developments, with involvement at every stage of the project lifecycle from RIBA Stages 1–6. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll gain exposure to a broad variety of building types, clients and technical challenges, helping you develop both your engineering expertise and professional skills.

Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to innovative building designs that respond to evolving industry demands, changing regulations and increasing sustainability requirements, while helping to deliver efficient, high-quality and compliant solutions for our clients.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer you'll be:

  • Supporting the design and analysis of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, through calculations, system layouts and technical assessments.
  • Producing and developing coordinated drawings and 3D models using CAD and Revit software.
  • Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers and other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Attending project and design meetings, contributing to discussions and learning from experienced engineers.
  • Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections to gain practical experience of building services installations and construction activities.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, calculations, specifications and other project documentation while developing knowledge of industry standards, regulations and best practice.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is with the CIBSE, IET or IMECHE.

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

About you:
