The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Environmental Advisor in our Taunton office, where you will be part of a multidisciplinary Environmental Services team.

About The Role

As a Graduate Environmental Advisor, you will work alongside our ambitious Environmental team and closely with prestigious clients in the regulated water and energy sectors. You will contribute to developing innovative, sustainable, and efficient solutions that meet client needs and support a greener future, working on high-profile projects that provide plenty of scope for long-term career progression.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and contributing to EIA screening, scoping, and environmental statements.
  • Carrying out environmental management studies, compliance audits, and sustainability reviews across project lifecycles.
  • Preparing environmental planning reports, statements, and appraisals to support regulatory approvals.
  • Instrumental in managing environmental constraints, sustainability risks, and mitigation strategies across diverse projects.
  • Working closely with senior team members, external clients, and statutory bodies across the regulated water and energy sectors.
  • Integrating environmental considerations with engineering, planning, and design teams to deliver net-zero and sustainable solutions.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. We will provide a structured professional progression plan supporting you to achieve professional chartership status with relevant bodies such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), or the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Your Impact

In this role, you will be at the forefront of embedding sustainability and environmental best practice into major UK infrastructure. Supporting high-profile projects across the regulated water and energy sectors, your environmental assessments and management plans will directly contribute to climate resilience and pollution prevention.

Working alongside senior specialists and clients, your daily efforts will help drive net-zero goals, safeguard natural capital, and create sustainable outcomes for communities.

About you:

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Science, or Environmental Planning that is accredited by a relevant professional body (CIWEM, IEMA, or RTPI), you will be:

  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • An Adapter - You’re able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Focused Individual - You focus on what matters, tuning out distractions to perform effectively in any situation.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others’ perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • An Eager Learner - You learn from your experiences and the world around you, using this knowledge to anticipate how situations may unfold.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that colleagues are able to provide the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to gain professional Chartership
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment and Early Careers peer group and wider ERG network
