The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in our Newcastle office, where you will support the design and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across water and wider engineering projects.

The successful candidate will join our Newcastle office and work with colleagues across local, regional and national engineering teams to support project delivery across water and wider engineering projects.

You will support a varied project portfolio, with opportunities to contribute to mechanical engineering design, calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, coordination and modelling. The variety and complexity of projects will help you develop technical, communication and project delivery skills while working with experienced colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.

Our project portfolio includes opportunities across sectors such as retail, manufacturing, logistics, education, healthcare, leisure and heritage, as well as multidisciplinary work with mechanical, electrical, public health and wider engineering colleagues.

About The Role

As part of our mechanical engineering team, you will support design and delivery across a range of projects, developing your technical capability while learning from experienced engineers and subject matter experts. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Producing engineering calculations to support mechanical design decisions.
  • Preparing reports, drawings and specifications for project deliverables.
  • Supporting coordination and modelling activities within multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Working with mechanical, electrical, public health and wider engineering colleagues to develop integrated solutions.
  • Developing your technical knowledge across engineering design, project delivery and professional practice.
  • Building your capability through project work, mentoring, training and structured graduate development.

We know our continuing success and development depends on yours, so we go all the way when it comes to giving you the support you need to be the very best. Each graduate will be allocated a chartered engineer to act as their mentor and support their professional development towards chartered status.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities by supporting mechanical engineering design across projects that shape buildings, infrastructure and essential services. Your work will contribute to practical, coordinated and sustainable engineering solutions for clients across Newcastle, the wider region and nationally.
