Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, as part of our market-leading Water Power & Dams team in Edinburgh, within Energy & Resources.
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will balance technical learning with practical project delivery on some of the world’s largest, most complex, and most exciting dams, hydropower, and pumped storage hydro schemes. You will sit within a dedicated, growing multidisciplinary design group, collaborating with civil, electrical, and hydraulic specialists across all phases of project development—from initial feasibility through outline and detailed design to commissioning. While primarily focused on hydropower and dams, you will also have opportunities to support cross-sector projects in the broader Water and Thermal sectors.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative mechanical engineering solutions for large-scale energy storage and clean power infrastructure globally. Supporting landmark projects—such as Coire Glas in Scotland—your contribution to mechanical design, rotating machinery, and dam infrastructure will directly enable the global energy transition and long-term water resilience. Working alongside industry-leading specialists, your efforts will help shape sustainable, resilient energy systems that serve communities for generations to come.
