Construction Assistant

I chose Mace - here is why you should too

I joined Mace in November 2021 following my degree in Construction Management and now work as a Construction Assistant.

I wanted to join Mace as they are the worlds leading global contractor, that have a history of delivery prestigious projects across multiple sectors. I knew joining this team would allow me to develop a wide range of experience in a dynamic and fast paced working environment.

If you from 3 years ago could see you now, what would they think

My initial feeling would be one of pride, 3 years ago I was delivering pizza in Walthamstow. I was at college studying business management, without any idea of what I wanted to be in the future.

However, my life has complete changed, 3 years on, I now work in a diverse working environment with career path mapped out and endless development opportunities. I feel Mace has allowed me to tap into my ambitious side and develop to the best version of myself I can be.

What your roles includes e.g. typical activities and key responsibilities

Working in construction there is no such thing as a typical day. However, One thing I do complete daily are site diaries, I collate reports on all the daily activities on site from all different contractors. I record the amount of labour working and the progress on all activities.

I have also been tasked with managing the roof removal, producing weekly progress photos of the site, progress mark ups for different working activities. Completing these tasks gives the team get a better understating regarding progress.

What training have you received?

Mace encourage all their employees to redefine their boundaries by leaving their comfort zone and enrolling onto different training courses which will develop their skills.

Since joining Mace I have undergone many different training courses to help me grow as a individual, the main training courses that I have completed which have significantly helped me in my job role are Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), First at Work and Crane Operator Rescue Training.
