Our recruitment process is designed to show what life is like at Newton, as well as getting the very best out of you. We’ll also provide you with valuable feedback, whether you’re successful or not, during the latter part of the process.
Grace and Will tell us a little bit more about Newton, the different stages of the application process and tips that can help you ace it. We know your time is precious; you don’t need a CV or cover letter and we won’t ask you to revise books of case studies.
We write all of our tests in-house, so you won’t find our exact tests online. Having said that, lots of companies test for similar skills, so try some other online practice tests and revise key skills. The test is negatively marked but if you can eliminate one or two answers and make a sensible guess then you are more likely to score. You are still likely to pass even if you don’t finish the test.
Emma and Holly give us an insight into the online numerical tests – how to prepare, calm your nerves, and top tips to help you breeze through.
Lewis and Zo take us through what to do for a successful video interview – what to expect, what to focus on, and where to do it.
Communication is a key part of being a consultant at Newton as we build relationships with clients and our teams. The video interview is the first chance we get to see candidates, so we encourage them to be themselves and really let their personalities shine through. Treat this like a real interview – so wear something smart and ensure your environment is quiet and clear.
The Final Stages of the Process is an opportunity for us to interact closely with each other. It’s a full day consisting of group discussions, case studies and presentations – a simulation of a day working at Newton. Split into two sessions, the morning will help you perform at your best for a series of exercises including a group activity, numerical and data interpretation tests and a case study session. Followed by the afternoon when we examine your individual technical skills and conduct a mini-interview. If you are successful on Selection Day, you’ll be invited to a dinner and final interview.
During the dinner, you’ll get to meet some of your future colleagues at Newton. Through this relaxed interaction, you’ll get a taste of our culture and see if we are an ideal fit. The final interview is a set of two 45-minute interviews. Think of it as a conversation – to understand our expectations from each other, and how we can help you succeed as you kickstart your consulting career with us.
If you’ve made it past the finish line – Congratulations! If you haven’t – don’t worry. We offer constructive feedback at every stage of the process.
