"Martin-Baker provides a unique, supportive and enjoyable Engineering career; no two days are the same and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities moving forward."
I joined Martin-Baker in November 2000, after graduating with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Imperial College. My role was Test Engineer within the Environmental Test Department, which is part of the Test and Evaluation Centre. This was a fascinating job, involving interpreting customer specifications and turning them into meaningful Test Procedures, conducting test programmes on the company’s devices and subsystems, designing and commissioning test rigs, writing detailed Test Reports and liaising with many Departments. This wide ranging role, along with the Company’s support, meant I was able to achieve Chartered status with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers within two years.
Seven years later, I moved into the position of Test Co-ordinator, which makes the most of my organisational skills to plan and manage the workload for the Environmental Test Department which consists of 10 Test Engineers, 5 Technicians and 4 Instrumentation Engineers alongside our array of equipment including Data Acquisition Systems, Vibration Machines and Climatic Chambers. My role also includes management of the Company’s Test Incident Problem Reporting System which entails working closely with many facets of the business to get timely resolutions. More recently I have been involved with the promotion of our Company and Engineering to the next generation, involving attending career fairs in schools and mentoring young Engineers to assist them with their Professional Qualifications.
