At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.

Job description
As a Project Engineer within the SCE Department (Project Portfolio Management Group), you will contribute to the delivery of complex construction projects at CERN. Reporting to a CERN Project Manager, you will coordinate interfaces with internal and external stakeholders throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring smooth collaboration while meeting technical, scheduling, budgetary, and safety objectives.
Your responsibilities
Participate in feasibility studies and preliminary design of new projects, including the coordination of civil engineering design services with external design offices (architects/engineers) and other equipment/services (MEP building services and accelerator equipment), leading to the submission of detailed designs to CERN users.
Participate in the preparation of invitations to tender, selection of firms, opening of offers and decisions related to designer or contractor selection.
Supervise the execution of civil engineering works on-site, ensuring compliance with contractual design drawings and specification documents in liaison with external consultants (architects/engineers), while monitoring measurements, payments, costs and schedules.
Organise hand-over procedures for civil works, follow up any subsequent work required to ensure compliance with specifications, and ensure that all safety measures are implemented on-site to keep the accident rate to a minimum.
Your profile
Interest in construction projects and project coordination, with a willingness to learn under the guidance of senior engineers.
Organised, proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously in a multi-tasking environment.
Good communication and team spirit in an international environment, with an open-minded and diplomatic approach.
