The construction sector is one of the world’s biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, so we have committed to raising the sustainability bar for ourselves and others.
We want to see smarter policies and practices right across our industry, because sustainability isn’t just something we talk about in our purpose, it really is at the heart of our business and operations. Through collaboration and innovation we can help to make people’s lives better.
We have approved Science Based Targets (SBTI) for both near and long term, helping us to focus on meaningful ways to combat climate change.
We have been awarded the London Stock Exchange Green Mark, which means we have been independently verified by the LSE for having over 50% of our revenue linked to the global green economy.
We are a Pledge to Net-Zero signatory, committing us to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 and have already reduced our carbon impact - scope 1 and 2 by around 50% since 2019. 94% of our energy is renewable-sourced, we use biodiesel in some of our HGVs, we run an electric company car scheme and implement effective energy management systems such as ISO50001.
It is our ambition to increase our use of recycled materials to its maximum permitted threshold while pushing for those boundaries to be extended. 83% of the materials that went into our products in 2023 were from recycled sources. We are also committed to becoming a zero-to-landfill operation.
We are reducing the carbon footprint of our operations and products by minimising our carbon emissions, without resorting to carbon offsetting. We also engage with our customers to find ways to reduce the carbon impact of the construction processes in which we are involved.
We are Gold accredited partners of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to upskilling our employees and supply chain, ensuring our businesses are able to respond to client requests, prepare for upcoming challenges and help deliver a sustainable future.
To achieve this Gold level, Genuit Group have actively engaged with SCSS resources, attended training activities, completed comprehensive assessments and submitted case studies of how we are embedding sustainability processes and learning across the group. We're proud to have demonstrated an increase in sustainability competence and knowledge-sharing across our organisation.
