Job Description

The employee will join CGG Satellite Mapping, part of CGG’s Energy Transition & Environment (ETE) business line based in Edenbridge, UK (25 miles south of London).

We harness the unique capabilities of Earth observation satellites, providing innovative mapping and monitoring solutions, and access to the best imagery and elevation data, across a variety of applications and markets including Energy, Mining, Engineering, Environment and Defence.

This team is expanding rapidly, with a diverse collection of roles opening up through 2022.

The employee will work with remote sensing and domain experts to explore and apply data science techniques to vast amounts of satellite imagery. They will help develop new solutions and refine and automate existing ones.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for adoption of new technologies as well as development and maintenance of systems, pipelines, and tools for large-scale satellite data processing.

We are seeking a candidate who has excellent communication skills, is able to interact and work well with the direct team as well as across disciplines. Has the ability to work independently when required, and is an innovative thinker who has the aptitude to take initiative and communicate well to solve problems and find the best solutions. 


The successful candidate will have 0-5 years’ industry experience.

A strong understanding and knowledge of Python as well as data science and machine learning.

It would also be desirable to have knowledge of the below:

  • PyTorch, particularly convolutional neural networks
  • Data science Python libraries e.g. Dask, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Xarray
  • Geospatial data formats e.g ESRI Shapefiles, GeoTiff
  • Git, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes
