We manage the entire lifecycles of projects and programmes through all phases of design, construction, operation and maintenance

The opportunity

We are looking for a Chemical Engineering graduate who is enthusiastic about working on projects that are critical to our client’s business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on exciting projects where you will work with various clients across the pharmaceutical sector to ensure that process and technology appointments are compliant with the project requirements and objectives.

A hybrid role, encompassing engineering and project management, you will be instrumental in the planning, scheduling and management of process and technology projects from early design through to commissioning and construction. Our accredited chemical engineering company training scheme will provide a structured approach to enable your progression towards chartership.

The successful candidate will work both independently and alongside our experienced engineers and project managers – benefitting from mentorship, training, and hands-on learning to become a well-rounded practitioner.

  • Working with clients to establish their needs 
  • Preparation of tender documents 
  • Contributing to project execution plans, including the logistics planning and scheduling 
  • Working closely with the design team from concept to delivery 
  • Working closely with the project team and cost managers to ensure all strategies implemented work effectively and efficiently 
  • Monitoring project progress, and preparing progress reports to update relevant parties
  • Monitoring and reporting on budgets and cash flow
  • Monitoring any potential risks to the project and mitigating those risks where possible
  • Dealing with changes to the project 
  • Monitoring and reviewing of health and safety practices 
  • Providing general support and assistance to the Project Manager. 

Your work base will be flexible and could be in one of Mace offices or at a client’s office or facility. You will gain exposure to all aspects of project delivery from concept design, through to construction, commissioning, validation handover and into operation.
 
You will be required to work in various locations in the UK and internationally for extended periods of time. As such, living away from home is required and accommodation will be provided. It is likely that you will work in at least two different locations during the Graduate Development Programme.  

The start date for this programme is September 2023.

Professional qualifications and membership

We’ll also support you in gaining chartered membership with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).

You’ll also need at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including Maths and English, an undergraduate MEng Chemical Engineering degree (expected or obtained). An affiliate member of IChemE, with a strong ambition to gain chartership.
