An overview of our engineering expertise at Martin-Baker.

The role holder should be a student who is looking for a twelve-month programme within our Environmental Test Engineering Department. This department is responsible for the development and qualification testing of a diverse spectrum of seat components and non-ejection products. This is part of the Company design verification process.

The position will require you to undertake a wide variety of project related engineering tasks including some or all of the following:

  • Assist in product testing
  • Assist in preparing test procedures and schedules to detail how testing is to be performed, the data to be acquired and the means of evaluating product performance
  • Support the evaluation of captured test data, through reduction analysis and interpretation of both instrumentation data and high speed video records
  • Develop simple analysis tools for the processing of data and the determination of performance compliance
  • Prepare and issue short-form and full Test Reports for viewing by costumers
  • Conduct detailed analysis of any failure encountered during test and support the process for failure resolution.

Tasks

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Environmental Test Engineering Department.

Qualifications

  • You must be working towards a good degree (1st or Upper 2nd Class Honors) in an appropriate science based subject (e.g. general engineering, aeronautical or aerospace engineering, systems engineering, physics, etc).

Skills

  • Communication skills: able to communicate verbally, in presentation format and in writing
  • Good data analysis skills
  • Good Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

The ideal applicant will have:

- A sound grasp of scientific / engineering theory balanced with a practical approach to engineering problems
- Some work experience in an engineering company

For all successful candidates, Martin-Baker will undertake background security checks. As part of this, we will need to confirm your identity, employment history and address history to cover the past five years as well as your nationality, immigration status and criminal record. For positions that require Security Clearance, the successful candidate must hold or be willing to obtain security clearance up to the relevant level for the role.
