Leonardo’s Graduate Development Programme offers you a permanent position to develop your knowledge and skills in our innovative and practical environment. In addition to working with our highly skilled engineers and business professionals, you will complete a 2 year formal training programme to develop the skills you require to be a leading technical or business professional of the future.

Our 2 year Graduate Programme

On joining the Leonardo graduate programme, you will be provided with a wealth of development opportunities in both virtual and applied working environments. On our programme you will engage with challenging and exciting project work, and deliver innovative business or technical solutions as part of a team of subject matter experts. Throughout the programme you will receive coaching and support from your team to achieve your objectives as well as your personal development goals. 

You will gain a wide array of experience in your day to day role, however as part of the programme you will also complete a number of development modules and activities over a two year period. These modules and activities are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to realise your full potential. Leonardo is committed to developing our graduates into leading technical or business professionals, and as such we will also support you through your preferred route for chartership.

What you will do

How this role fits in

Leonardo’s two year Graduate programme specialising in Procurement is looking for people who understand the importance of communication, who are able to work well as part of a team and also on their own initiative. You will have the drive and commitment to work through difficult problems to find the right solutions. No day is the same: One day you negotiate with well-known supplier brands, the next day you work with our legal and finance teams. One thing is for sure – you will never be bored. You will be working with different functions every day and will get a good understanding of our business and functions.

Role description

At the end of the 2 year programme, you will have been involved in the procurement, management and delivery of services supporting a variety of world leading products and will have gained invaluable business skills such as negotiating, influencing, contracting and project management

During your Programme, you will be exposed to and involved with the management of the full range of Indirect Procurement Categories within Leonardo, including; HR, Facilities Management, Utilities, Logistics and Professional Services.  You will work with a great team of Procurement Professionals across the UK who will support and coach you as you begin your Procurement Journey within Leonardo.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Develop business knowledge, skills and behaviours
  • Coaching in, and practice of the full Procurement Category Management lifecycle, inc;
  • Strategic management of the Leonardo Indirect spend
  • Creating Category Strategies
  • Managing cross functional teams
  • Competing and negotiating Services to add value and deliver savings
  • Drafting and negotiating Service Agreements and Commercials
  • Managing Supplier Performance
  • Influencing business decisions and stakeholder management including leading presentations 

What we are looking for


Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business.


All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. A degree in Supply Chain Management would be preferable but other STEM or Business degrees will be considered.
