Leonardo is a global high-tech player in Aerospace, Defence and Security. With headquarters in Italy and over 45,600 employees, Leonardo has a major industrial presence in four main markets (Italy, UK, US and Poland), and an important network of strategic partnerships in the main high potential markets worldwide.
With a UK focus on our Defence & Security Electronics and Helicopter capabilities, Leonardo employs around 7,000 people at six major sites throughout the UK, 67% of whom hold highly skilled positions.
Leonardo’s growth in the UK has resulted from the skills, energy and dedication of our people. We are therefore committed to maintaining a skilled and diverse workforce and offering personal fulfilment through the highest quality education and development.
Leonardo recognises that delivery of leading-edge capability requires working closely with an extensive supply network.
Much of the work undertaken by Leonardo sees us focus our expertise on design, development, assembly, integration, testing and certification; this approach is based upon a robust and sustainable manufacturing supply chain, with around 2,300 companies in the UK.
It is crucial for us to be able to leverage developments in new technologies as they emerge. This often means working with small start-up businesses, university spin-offs, or specialist SMEs.
We recognise that smaller enterprises can have limited resilience, capacity and cash resources. We have therefore designed our project and supplier management processes to help them through collaborative development processes, shield them from some of the project risk, and, on occasion, help protect their commercial viability.
