What you will do

We are looking for self-motivated Graduate Systems Engineers to join our Radar Test Solutions group to undertake the design and development of large-scale complex test solutions for the Typhoon and Airborne AESA Radar business areas.

The Graduate Test Systems Engineer will work closely with the Project Engineering Leads and Technical Leads to develop the skills required to define and develop new and innovative test solutions for all Typhoon/Airborne AESA radar products across the Edinburgh business. The Graduate Test System Engineer role will report directly into a Project Engineering Lead within the team.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a multi-skilled / multi-technology team in a time of significant growth in the Edinburgh Radar business. It will involve development of test solutions from Transmit-Receive Module (ears and voice of the Radar) through to Full Antenna.

This individual must have a willingness to learn, cultivate positive working relationships across all internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the successful completion of work packages in accordance with the Integrated Project Team (IPT) engineering plans and processes.

The Graduate Test Systems Engineer day-to-day responsibilities include:

Input to the design and development of test systems to meet the customer requirements (internal or external) by participating over time in test hardware, firmware and software estimates, requirements definition, solution development & including design reviews and across all aspects of the product lifecycle process.

Lead the integration of simple designs, support the verification and validation phases & analyse results & measurements to ensure compliance to customer requirements.

Support the transition of test solutions into production by participating in the handover process & supporting equipment through its initial operational phase.

Develop simple hardware architectural designs to meet an established set of test system requirements. Leading onto more complex system designs. Support customer needs, create & review documentation and input into the production of monthly project status reports.

What we are looking for

Mandatory

Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as “SC”) for our business, which includes having a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK, but may need to be to a higher level for this particular role due to the nature of the projects and or programmes that the role will be supporting.

Qualifications

All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering, mathematics, physics or another relevant STEM discipline.
