Placement students will report to an experienced engineer who will provide them with day to day guidance and on the job training. They will be introduced to the hardware development processes and utilise state-of-the-art methods, technology and tools. Placement students will gain experience on an aspect of the development lifecycle. This could include requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, applied research and test. Placement students will be given the opportunity to learn about the Leonardo product via a placement within a real IPT. The Placement student will work for an experienced engineer contributing to the solving of real life engineering problems on state of the art avionics sensor systems. Particular emphasis will be placed on learning practical skill that may not be easily gain or experienced in the academic environment of university.
You should be matriculated in a MEng or BEng (hons) course in Electrical and Electronic engineering, or related discipline. We normally only consider candidates who are about to commence their penultimate year or final year. A full statement of courses and projects studied at university and corresponding grades/marks/percentage should be included in your CV.
Applications are also welcomed from candidates who have completed a first degree in electronics and are looking to gain industrial experience prior to commencing a relevant higher degrees (ie PhD, MSc) Candidate are required to demonstrate personal ownership and responsibility for their work, team working skills, technical excellence, creative problem solving ability, communication skills and leadership potential. Evidence of specialist knowledge and or interest in the area of RF engineering, Microwave engineering, Power supply engineering, EMC engineer, FPGA and high speed digital engineering may be an advantage.
