Job description

At Severfield, we’ve forged our legacy on some of the most iconic buildings in the country. From The Shard to 22 Bishopsgate, the New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to Wimbledon No.1 Court. We build the future.

It’s development on a different scale - and that goes for your career, too.

Severfield Graduate Scheme

"Graduates are very important to Severfield. We're looking for the next generation."

Right now, we’re creating the next generation of engineers, leaders and problem solvers, all with sustainability in mind. It means we offer exciting opportunities to build your experience right across our industry.

And what’s more, we’re fully geared up to help you gain chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers. Plus, if your big dream is Institution of Structural Engineering chartership, we’ll support you through that.

In this role, you’ll work with our engineering design teams on everything from tender appraisal through to construction - growing, learning and developing as you go.

You’ll also help our design and drawing office to produce and analyse connection and structural designs and standardise key procedures. All while sourcing information and liaising with our clients’ architects and other consultants.

Location

You’ll primarily be based in one of our UK offices in Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Scotland or Northern Ireland. But what makes this opportunity really exciting is that you’ll often need to act as the resident on-site engineer. Which means you’ll get to see your projects really come to life.

It’s about working in major cities across the UK, gaining the kind of life experience that reaches far beyond your graduate career.

What we are looking for

  • A 2.1 degree in Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering is essential, and you might already be working towards your ICE status, or even have a Master’s degree.
  • A good knowledge of steel designs that meet British Standards and Eurocode.
  • Experience with design and analysis software is desirable.
  • You’llneedtomakesureyouhavetherighttoworkintheUKthroughoutthedurationofthe course, which is 4.5 years. You can find out more about work visas and proving your right to work on the gov.uk website.

And in return for your hard work, we offer a competitive salary and benefits. But best of all, it’s the chance to start building a legacy of your own - and start scaling up your own future!

  • Working hours would be 39 hours per week, possibly on a hybrid model of 3 out of 5 days in the office
