About us

Working within Design & Development team in the Intelligence UK business area at Airbus Defence and Space, you will provide expert guidance on the quality and viability of a range of exciting solutions. The development covers broad topics in earth observation, aerial and satellite imagery, space exploration, climate change and disaster/crisis management, big data, civil and defence communications, law-enforcement and fire-and-rescue services, national and international government systems and much more.

Make it possible. Make it happen. Make it fly.

At Airbus Group, our people work with passion and determination to accomplish the extraordinary – on the ground, in the sky and in space.

You’ll get the opportunity to work in a diverse team of techies using the most up to date technologies, building innovative solutions.

The IV&V (Integration, Validation & Verification) function is a critical element to the Design & Development team, providing analysis and consultation skills on a huge range of technologies and real-life solutions.

We work closely with solutions architects and engineers to accurately validate the requirements of a solution and verify that it is built correctly and effectively. We define tests and methods to exercise solutions under development, working smartly and rigorously to provide confidence in our products and services to our internal peers and stakeholders, our customers and the world at large.

We take pride in our blend of thoroughness and pragmatism, and our colleagues and partners value our work highly. Indeed, you could be the one who discovers a critical bug in the solution, and thus helps save a project from the delay and expense caused by undiagnosed faults.

What you will be doing

As a Solutions Quality Engineer, you will be able to demonstrate and develop your interrogation, analysis and investigation skills.

Your activities will be varied and deeply-absorbing, either working solo or as part of a small or huge team. This will include:

  • Liaising with users of solutions to gauge their needs and get feedback and recommendations on operational effectiveness: a special skill which, when done well, can prevent unnecessary features or misunderstandings creeping in
  • Defining various scenarios that put the solutions through functional and non-functional tests, and executing these under controlled conditions with reliability and accuracy at all times maintaining a library of testware, datasets, results and evidence for further analysis and reference
  • Sharing your observations confidently with peers and others, contributing actively to solving problems and finding ways to progress
  • Understanding standards and regulatory compliance, helping to assure conformance to best-practice and provide quality governance
  • Ensuring trust on which our brand name and world-renowned reputation is built

Skills required

  • You have been studying for a relevant engineering or technical degree
  • The ability to listen, understand and communicate information
  • The desire to work in a technical team environment
  • A strong interest in developing yourself
  • Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems
  • Able to make decisions based on evidence
  • The desire to work in an open and trusting environment

As a graduate with us, you’ll be a full-time employee and working on real projects and making a difference from day one. That’s why we make sure you’re properly rewarded for the work you do.

  • £29,000 salary
  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • A selection of voluntary benefits such as Employee car leasing scheme, financial advice, employee discounts with nationwide stores, and more!
  • A competitive pension
  • Tax-effective share plans
  • Enhanced family friendly policies
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • An independent, 24-hour, confidential counselling service
