About us:

As an intern you will join the Laboratory Test Means Electrical/Electronic Design team. You will have the opportunity to develop soft and technical skills in a different set of activities that involves design, building and testing, from end to end. These include a challenging and exciting project for aircraft which are already flying and those that may fly in the future.

The Laboratory Test Means Architecture and Integration team is responsible for the design, development, manufacturing and maintenance of laboratory test means (LTM) within the Systems Integration Test perimeter. The team is transnational with elements present in Toulouse, Hamburg, Bremen and Filton.

Airbus Internships

Do you want to gain valuable experience and take on responsibility from the start? Then apply for an internship at Airbus.

The scope of LTM’s covered includes:

  • Virtual Platforms
  • Functional Integration Benches/System Integration Benches
  • Type 0 means (e.g. LG 0) representative of the aircraft
  • Ad-hoc test benches for various purposes (e.g. rapid prototyping)

The main activities performed by the various teams are:

  • Laboratory test means support, which includes
  • Test Mean design and development for new test rigs
  • Maintenance and evolution of current test rigs
  • Maintenance and Development of the Test Management System (TMS):
  • Testing of new releases of TMS
  • Integration of new hardware (e.g. I/O board)
  • Obsolescence management of hardware
  • Contributing to the department’s future test strategy:
  • Support projects seeking to promote new hardware technologies
  • Innovate new features for test benches (e.g. Test bench interconnection, Predictive health monitoring)

The department strategy fully supports the Integration and Flight Test center’s vision to develop a ‘single test team’ identity covering all tests from Supplier to Flight Test.

The jobholder will be a member of a Group in the LTM Architecture and Integration department in Filton, working in close relationship with the corresponding test teams.

What will you be doing?

The aim of this internship is to assist the LTM engineers on various activities, within the design and/or maintenance groups of the department. This could include the design and development of electrical and/or electronic hardware for test benches and other testing needs.

Activities carried out could involve any Airbus commercial aircraft programme, another Airbus entity programme or R&T work.  This may also require trips to various Airbus sites and/or at supplier facilities.

Furthermore, significant opportunities to develop ‘soft’ skills will be available throughout the internship by supporting and conducting a range of development tasks including school liaison events and departmental activities.
