CGG is working on a new multi-client data project in Southeast Arizona focusing on exploration and development in the mining industry. The project represents a significant step forward in CGG’s strategy to provide integrated data solutions for the mining industry. The mining sector tends to be more fragmented than the oil & gas industry so companies must allocate their resources and expertise carefully and the multi-client licensing model is an innovative and effective way to improve data access in critical mining regions.
Demand for some metals is projected to increase by six-fold if targets for renewable energy generation and electric vehicles are to be met and the minerals and mining sector faces significant challenges in upscaling exploration, development and production. This project will enable companies operating in this area to work more efficiently and sustainably.
As part of this project, CGG will acquire over 270,000 line-kilometers of new airborne multi-physics data, including aeromagnetic, radiometric and gravity data. CGG’s extensive team of subsurface experts and data scientists will integrate this data set with 50,000 sq. km of satellite imagery, multispectral data, and all available data from a broad spectrum of wells and geological data sources, to deliver a single comprehensive, consistent and cross-disciplinary data set to support innovative methods of exploration.
