The role holder should be a student who is looking for a twelve-month programme within our Quality Department, where we aim to provide a suitably qualified student with experience of main facets of quality engineering activities with the defence and aerospace industry. The individual will provide support to quality control and quality engineering functions, where you will gain hands-on experience and you will receive training and gain exposure to other departments.

This position is responsible for improving the Martin-Baker manufacturing processes within a small batch environment whilst operating to high standards of quality and customer care and developing robust solutions to manufacturing problems.

Areas Of Responsibility:

  • Support of the Quality Control Department's daily operations.
  • Audit and review quality procedures to ensure current work processes are as described 
  • Working to support in the investigation of quality concerns, root cause analysis and corrective and preventative measures.
  • Direct involvement of customer concerns and their resolutions.
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Quality Department including assisting in supplier audits and investigation of supplier issues.

Education & Qualifications:

  • You must be working towards a strong degree result (1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours) in an appropriate science-based subject (e.g., general engineering, aeronautical or aerospace engineering, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, etc).

Specific / Technical Skills

  • Communication skills: able to communicate verbally clearly and concisely, in presentation format and in writing
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong collaboration skills when working part of a team

Knowledge & Experience

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A sound grasp of scientific / engineering theory balanced with a practical approach to engineering problems
  • Some work experience in an engineering company
