Gradcracker works here's the proof
"During my time here, I’ve been involved in a number of projects, all helping me to gain a better understanding of the technology used within the treatment proces."
I’ve been with United Utilities for four months and came in early to the scheme to gain experience of how Operational Technology functions within the business.
During my time here, I’ve been involved in a number of projects, all helping me to gain a better understanding of the technology used within the treatment process, and how UU are looking to improve and develop this. Already I’ve undertaken work involving the development of new and existing UU standards, and been involved in a project analysing of the availability and downtime of our systems. I’ve been on numerous site visits around the North West with Senior Engineers, to help understand the treatment process, and how we monitor and control this.
I’m also currently involved with 2013/2014 CEO Challenge Project. This is where teams of graduates are tasked with investigating the potential of a new technology within the business. Our team is looking at how Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) can be used to inspect and survey remote area’s in order to help the maintenance and operational teams. This has allowed me to work within a multi-discipline group and gain experience of wide range of departments and roles with UU.
All of this, alongside the numerous placements I’ll undertake starting in September, are aimed at helping me develop the skills and knowledge to become a chartered engineer and ensure a successful career within the water industry.
