‘I believe Tilbury Douglas is the company for you if you hold high ethical and environmental standards. From my own experience, whether you are in the office or on site – Sustainability, Equality and Health & Safety are the top priorities no matter what’

Tell us how and why you took the job you are in at Tilbury Douglas.

I have grown up with both parents in the residential construction industry but have always been more intrigued by large scale architecture and engineering. I wanted to learn and work at the same time, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to take after my A-Levels – at one of the leading construction firms in the UK.

Why should people join Tilbury Douglas?

Other than being one of the leading construction firms in the country, they have provided me with a lot of help with getting settled in, and progressing from my COVID school-life, to work-life and with my university studies. It’s a welcoming company with lots of exciting projects to get involved in and a career path on offer.

How does your role impact on the business and why you enjoy working at Tilbury Douglas?

As I have only recently joined, my role is not necessarily critical to the business after only three months, but after completing my degree, continuing working, and being given more responsibility – I do believe I will become a key employee for the
company’s future.

My first impression was being amazed, to be honest, at the sheer level of organisation required from the team at Tilbury Douglas to keep everyone happy, safe, and working at such a speed. I learnt more in my first day than I expected to in my first month (someone had jokingly told me that I’d be making coffees for my whole first year). I felt so welcomed by all the members of the team I was introduced to in the Wigan Office, on site at Wythenshawe Hospital, and even by sub-contractors who were willing to help if I had any questions.
