As a Graduate Transport Modeller at WSP you are likely to work with both public and private clients, directly impacting the road, rail, public transport and cycle networks. Our Transport Modelling teams use the latest transport modelling software and GIS interfaces to construct comprehensive integrated transportation models at local, regional and national levels, displaying them in a single user-friendly environment.
Our teams use their expertise to carry out individual and area-wide junction assessments using micro-simulation techniques, and to develop complex network models to support regional clients. We model all modes of transportation – pedestrians, vehicles, transit, freight – in order to optimise operational and design solutions.
Our Transport Modelling teams are looking for graduates from Mathematics, Physics, Transport, Civil Engineering, GIS, Spatial Data Science, Geomatics or Data Visualisation backgrounds to join our teams in offices throughout the UK.
We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent client emails.
Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in report writing, modelling or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.
Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings and client updates from the start.
