The Development Planning service line helps a broad range of private and public sector clients to promote, implement and manage sustainable development from pre-feasibility through to planning consent and to implementation.

We help to establish plans for how an area and its accessibility will develop over time in order to guide future development. 
Our expertise includes transport planning for development and master planning projects, together with multi-disciplinary project management. 

We work on a mix of UK and international projects, providing front-end and strategic advisory services including optioneering and scheme appraisal. We provide planning support services through concept and schematic design with technical input to planning applications.

Our Development Planning team is seeking Graduate Transport Planners/Engineers/Consultants to join our teams in Leeds or Newcastle.

What you’ll need

  • You’ll be graduating in 2022 or have recently graduated with at least a 2:1 in a Bachelor’s degree in either Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning or Built Environment, or similar.
  • You'll be looking to start work in September 2022
  • You’ll be passionate with the curiosity and creativity to solve problems
  • You’ll want to stretch and inspire us, speaking up about any new ideas you have
  • You’ll want to throw yourself in from day one and put your studies into practice
  • You’ll have excellent communication skills
  • You’ll enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues 
  • You’ll have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively

Please note behavioural assessment results (also referred to as game-based assessment) at WSP are valid for a period of 12 months, if you have completed an assessment within this timeframe and been unsuccessful, we will not be able to consider your application.

How long does the process take?

One of our Development Planning team will review your application and reach out to you to discuss the role in more detail.
