"Through having such a supportive team around me, it encourages me to continue to work hard so that I can continue to progress my career at WSP. I’m excited for the future with WSP and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow both professionally and personally."
Having graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a Geography degree in 2019, I was fortunate enough to join the WSP Graduate Scheme in 2021 where I joined the Transport Planning team in Bristol.
As part of my application process, I attended the Assessment Centre which was a great experience, and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. It really helped to set the scene of the culture at WSP. Since joining the team, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects with different teams across the South West. This is one of the things that I enjoy the most about working at WSP, not only are there a diverse range of projects to get involved in but I’ve also been able to work alongside a variety of colleagues from different grades and backgrounds. This has helped me to get a better understanding of the different pathways to success and is helping me to channel my career going forward. Everyone I have been fortunate enough to work with so far has always been so helpful and they have emphasised that there’s no such thing as a silly question – the more questions the better!
Before starting at WSP, I was new to the transport planning world so when discussing my goals for my first year at WSP with my Line Manager, I voiced that I would like to get involved with as many different projects as possible in order to get a broad feel for the different type of work that we do. From the start, my Line Manager has been very supportive and has helped me to achieve this goal. Therefore, since starting I have had the chance to do this which means that each day offers a new, exciting challenge.
Through having such a supportive team around me, it encourages me to continue to work hard so that I can continue to progress my career at WSP. I’m excited for the future with WSP and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow both professionally and personally.
