Stantec has become a signatory of Tomorrow’s Engineers Code. The Code is co-created by and for the engineering community. Signatories commit to improving the quality, inclusivity, targeting and reach of activities designed to inspire young people and build and share understanding of how to do so.
The Code intends to help make fundamental changes to ensure engineering careers are more accessible for young people. Stantec joins nearly 80 organisations already signed up and pledged to improve activities designed to enthuse the next generation.
Gill Blandin-Ellis, Human Resources Director said: “We’re very proud to be a signatory of the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code. We are also excited to join a large growing community that shares our own commitment to better engage and interact with young people on the opportunities careers in STEM can offer. Only by collaborating with like-minded others can we enhance support for underrepresented groups and make engineering more diverse.”
Liz Chapman, Consulting Engineering Director UK&I said: “At Stantec we’re passionate about creating pathways that allow a greater diversity of young people to grow a career in engineering. We’re also keenly aware of how our communities need the very best engineering talent possible to address challenges like climate change. Aligning with the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code ensures our STEM activities are meaningful and successful.”
At the heart of the Tomorrow’s Engineers Code is the Code Community made up of signatories and supporters. This community ‘owns’ The Code and will help grow, drive, and shape it.
Stantec’s network of STEM ambassadors will be key in Stantec’s role as signatory. This new commitment will enhance Stantec’s existing engagement and outreach activities to inspire, inform and prepare young people for careers in the planning, design and delivery of development and infrastructure projects in the built and natural environment.
