Stantec named ‘Engineering Consultancy of the Year’ at Water Industry Awards

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering services, has been named ‘Engineering Consultancy of the Year’ at the Water Industry Awards 2023. The firm also picked up the Smart Water Networks Award for its ground-breaking, digital-led project in Hadfield for Yorkshire Water.

The Water Industry Awards highlight innovation and technical excellence in the water sector, both of which are critical to solving the challenges the industry faces. Winners are chosen via a rigorous judging process using an independent panel made up of industry leaders.

The Engineering Consultancy of the Year Award is given to the company that best demonstrates a combination of industry-leading expertise, agenda-setting innovation, and workforce best practice through their activity.

Stantec supports its clients in designing sustainable water solutions for communities. In the last year, Stantec has grown its Water headcount by more than 300. The company has opened new offices in Belfast, Cumbria, Exeter, and Brighton while expanding its presence in Edinburgh and London. The growth of Stantec is enabling the firm to help clients deliver major programmes which address resilience challenges across the UK and Ireland.

Stantec has also worked with Yorkshire Water to create the revolutionary Sheffield Smart Water Network, for which it won the Smart Water Network of the Year Award. This is the largest and most extensive scheme of its kind in the UK. It uses automation, machine learning, and digitalisation to deliver a holistic system thinking digital twin, transforming the way Yorkshire Water manages its network.
