Graduate Fire Engineer - London or Birmingham

Graduate Development Programme 2018

What you’ll be doing

Our expert fire consultants use their understanding of how fire affects people and our built environment to help clients realise their architectural vision, identify design and budget efficiencies and meet regulatory requirements.

With over 150 experts in the UK and across the world, we work with clients at all stages of a project’s lifecycle, from concept to operational, to satisfy legal requirements and to offer design flexibility. Our clients range from signature architects to contractors to estate managers.

We’re proud of the innovation we bring to every project, from our award-winning solution for Addenbrookes Hospital to increasing the internal area of Beetham Tower in Manchester by reducing the number of staircases needed.

All in a day’s work

We asked our graduates what it’s like to do their job. On a day to day basis, the life of a graduate at WSP starts off in the morning with cups of tea and responding to any urgent client emails.

Beyond that, anything could happen! You could get involved in report writing, modelling or design calculations in 3D software packages. Your day could also involve visiting site and liaising with contractors, discussing options for concept designs with colleagues, responding to client requests for information or meetings with the team about the scope and progress of projects.

Naturally, there is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through complex software packages, team briefings and client updates from the start. There may even be time for cake.
