Mechanical Engineering:

The QinetiQ Mechanical Engineering discipline consists of around 300 engineers, scientists and technicians, working within three distinct Groups; Naval Architecture and Maritime Engineering, Stress, Structures and Advanced Products and Design and Fabrication skill groups.

We are currently recruiting 3 types of Mechanical engineers across the team:

  • Mechanical Design
  • Mechanical Design Assurance
  • Naval Architect

Academic requirements:

You will need to have obtained or be studying towards at least a 2:2 in a degree with a key focus on any of the disciplines listed below:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Naval Architecture
  • Ocean/Maritime Engineering

We will also consider applications which have clear & relevant external experience in any of the above disciplines. You will also need to support this by having obtained or be studying towards at least a 2:2 degree.

Additional requirements:

You must of graduated no earlier than 2019 OR will graduate no later than 2022

Mechanical Design

Placement/work experience during academic studies is beneficial
Hobbies/extra-curricular activities that focuses on design, making &/or inventing with a focus around engineering

Mechanical Design Assurance

  • Masters students preferred but not essential
  • Good experience/knowledge of engineering in aviation
  • Excellent attention to detail and breadth of skill set within engineering
  • Good insight into specifications (Part 21J) is beneficial

Naval Architect

  • Interest in Maritime sector with hobbies that reflect this
  • Team based hobbies &/or academic based projects
  • Professional work experience within Maritime if beneficial
  • Strong problem solver
