QinetiQ is a company of over 6,000 people dedicated to being on the side of their customers.
In the Applied Science discipline, we are offering summer placements for students wanting to explore their career options in science, technology, engineering and maths, while undertaking work activities in R&D at the forefront of new technologies. You will explore and recognise the skills needed to contribute to the delivery of a wide range of programmes for military, government and commercial customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will experience and contribute to:
Our “best-in-class” capabilities specifically tailored to customer need
A broad range of activities, including: development of novel emerging materials-related technologies; producing and testing materials and test samples in the laboratory through to building advanced prototypes; corrosion and protection systems; computational modelling; materials physics and chemistry, and forensic engineering
New technology areas such as chemical formulation, materials synthesis and process development, and test and evaluation
The development of disruptive solutions for customers with complex needs
Some of the most challenging, high profile science and technology programmes in the UK and overseas.
A summer placement in QinetiQ would provide:
Experience in multidisciplinary teams delivering projects to a wide range of military, government and commercial customers
An understanding of how our customers want to exploit novel and emerging technologies
An opportunity to apply to QinetiQ for further placements and QinetiQ’s Graduate Training Programme
An opportunity to explore and develop your technical and leadership skills
Get the opportunity to support community projects, for example acting as a STEM ambassador to local schools.
To apply for the role you MUST meet the following criteria;
You are seeking a formal qualification, preferably a Batchelor’s or Master’s degree, in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) subject
Be willing to learn, and have demonstrated an aptitude for learning at pace
Have a keen interest in science, technology and engineering
Hold full British Citizenship.
